Christmas Blessings

Can y’all believe that it is December already?!

Well, during this holiday season, we want to send each of y’all a BIG Lamb’s Loom hug of thanks! We truly thank the Lord for each and everyone who continues to come alongside and contribute to this mission to love and encourage others with handmade “huggable” items and help us to continue to spread the gift of giving!

The Lamb’s Loom’s Donation Chest has overflowed weekly this year and we are so very grateful! This gift of giving shines not only at Christmas time, but all year as everyone adds to the chest. As we sort through everything and get ready to send things off, we love to see all the lovely items that have been gifted.  And tho’ our distribution of items goes on all year, during the holidays it’s extra special! We will announce the full amount of items gifted in 2022 during Yarn Tasting 2023!

Some of the mission groups we serve have special requests because of who they serve.  At Christmas last year, for Tim’s Coats, we provided over 700 hats! During the year, Pregnancy Centers request baby booties and layettes. Those who serve the homeless need blankets and scarves to help fend off the chill every night. The Prayer Shawls everyone makes come in beautiful patterns. What makes a shawl a “prayer shawl” is their size and comfort. When we sort out for the mission groups that request Prayer Shawls, there’s a certain thing we are looking for in them. You can feel that hug in the size of the shawl and gentle fiber that was used, and that’s the one! The Lamb’s Loom Prayer Shawls sent around the world are delivering hugs and praying for the world, one stitch at a time!

So, as gifts are exchanged this year with family and friends we want to say thank you! Thank you to each and everyone who gives so generously to keep things going around here! It is such a blessing to stitch and serve with you all! Merry Christmas!

We are so very thankful for everyone who helps out around here, mails adorable handmades to be added to the Donation Chest and overall joins in the gift of giving with us!

 Wishing everyone a blessed Thanksgiving!!!

Knitted Knockers News

The Lamb’s Loom is privileged to be a designated collection point for Knitted Knockers! We are so blessed to add the Knitted Knocker Organization to the many ministries we serve. For those who haven't heard about Knitted Knockers, this is a wonderful organization dedicated to supplying breast prosthetics to women who have undergone mastectomies.

Knitted and crocheted “knockers” are made by using an approved yarn, for comfort and fit purposes, and then stuffed with polyfil. All the yarns that have been approved have been tested to ensure they are soft and nonabrasive to the skin, and made of a breathable fiber. These provide an option to the heavy, and very hot prosthetics they may currently be using. A Knitted Knocker is lighter weight and made with breathable fibers, so heat rash and other complications can be lessened. Knockers are given to each person at no cost to them, which serves as a gift of encouragement and helps those who may not be able to afford other prosthetic options.

At The Lamb’s Loom we carry four of the approved yarns. There is a special basket in our donation area just for donated Knockers to be given. Then, every month, or so we have a “stuffing party” and friends gather to sort, stuff and prepare these to go out to a local clinic. Once there, women are aided by their medical team to be fit for just the right Knocker.

Join us! You can make a Knocker, come to a stuffing party, donate polyfil and most definitely pray for all the recipients. We are currently blessed to serve two local clinics, a breast cancer support group and a clinic just south of San Antonio. As a recognized collection point for knockers, please help us to spread the word to anyone who would like to join in this outreach!

What an amazing year we have had!

Soooo many new peeps have taken classes, joined in the Sit-n-Knit fun, AND more beautiful handmade items are being added to the Donation Chest than ever!

Well, we just had to make more room for all the #LambsLoomFun going on everyday, so during our "summer vacation" we got to work! The Sit-n-Knit has been relocated and things are in the works to expand our outside Sit-n-Knit area, too!

Lots of birthday yarns and other surprises are wrapped and ready to celebrate with all around the place!

There will be drawings, great prizes provided by many of our vendors and fall class listings for y'all. If you have any class requests for our teachers, please drop us a note and we will see what we can do.

It has been an amazing 8 years and we are blessed by everyone who has joined in this ministry to send #loveineverystitch around the world. We thank the Lord for you all and are looking forward to seeing everyone and celebr8ing with you! 💝

Summer Stitches and Snippets...

🐑 Summer classes are going GREAT! Lots of Learn-to classes and several of our Next Step classes are ready for July! There are still a few spots available, so give us a call for more info!

Our heart-felt thanks to all our teachers, who volunteer their time and talents!

💖💖💖

🐑...and did you know?!?! Your teen can earn their school volunteer hours when volunteering here!
Give us a call, or fill in our volunteer app here, and let's see if that's a fit for you this summer, or during the year! We have a wondermous group of volunteers ready to show you a few stitches and get you started in your own #YarnFun as you serve others and #stitchitforward with us!

 🐑 Quick Donation Chest report!!!

We're halfway thru the year and already the Chest has received over 2600 items this year! Many are participating in our Make-Along this year (the July theme is out now!), making Ukrainian themed hats and always adding their own creative handmade items to the Chest.

Your continued generosity and creativity will be blessing soooo many...THANK YOU!!! 💖

🐑 Hard to believe it, but our birthday month is almost here! The Lamb's Loom will be 8 years old on August 26th, so as usual we're throwing a party the whole week!

Before all that, we will be taking a summer vacation (the shop will be closed) the first week of August. A little time for catch up, rest and birthday prep. Lots more yarn fun in store for us all in August!

Y'all keep having a yarn-filled summer and we'll see you soon!

The year is flying by and SUMMER is here already!!!

The Donation Chest continues to overflow and we are so very grateful!

Make-Along hats are a real treat to see coming in every month with their creative touches to match the butterfly theme. Ann is creating some very special hats with the BFF themes that are a real inspiration! Bookmark this page for  new themes as they are added every month!

We are also making hats and scarves with the Ukrainian flag colors. Those will be sent to Poland this fall to help with mission groups there.

Everyone is welcome to join in the fun and add your own wonderful ideas to your creations and #stitchitforward with us!

AND our Summer Stitches Classes are getting ready for your summer #YarnFun to begin!

That's right, we are adding a series of "Next Step" classes to our ongoing Learn-to series of looming, knitting and crochet. *

We are so excited to be adding to the class list for the summer. Our dear Shepherd Barbara will be offering one-on-one weaving workshops also!

There's something for everyone! So, give us a call and join our teaching teams this summer and add to your yarn fun!

(*see list of specific classes below)

And Denise took it a step further! 😉 She participated in our Anatomy of a Sock class last month and did it all! She took the class, chose yarn that matched the Make-Along theme for the month and then gave the socks to the Donation Chest!

We continue to be so very grateful to all of our instructors! 💗 They freely give of their time and talents to encourage and teach others. We are blessed!

2022 Make-Along is HERE!

Last year we had a blast doing our first ever Make-Along! What's a Make-Along, you ask? It is a fun time of creation and giving, all wrapped into one! Every month we will provide inspiration based on our theme for the year. You then create an item for the Donation Chest at The Lamb's Loom. Our theme last year was Fine Fibered Friends ~ birds of all kinds that live here and migrate through the area.

This year’s theme is BFFs, or Butterfly Flitty Friends. One of the many things that attract our Winter Texan friends to the area is to see all the wonderful birds that live here year around, and those that migrate thru the area. Our South Texas weather keeps the blooms blooming all year and
that attracts the birds.

So! Every month on our website we will introduce you to a different butterfly in the area, provide yarn suggestions and off you go! Make your favorite project like a hat, scarf, blanket or shawl for the Donation Chest every month. You are welcome to purchase your yarn here (that supports the mission, too!), or dive into your own stash and find something fun that works with the theme! All year we will celebrate those who participate with prizes and of course, HUGE thanks for being our BFF on this project and giving of your time to support and help so many. Check out the website for updates and new BFFs every month!!!
