2022 Make-Along is HERE!

Last year we had a blast doing our first ever Make-Along! What's a Make-Along, you ask? It is a fun time of creation and giving, all wrapped into one! Every month we will provide inspiration based on our theme for the year. You then create an item for the Donation Chest at The Lamb's Loom. Our theme last year was Fine Fibered Friends ~ birds of all kinds that live here and migrate through the area. 

This year’s theme is BFFs, or Butterfly Flitty Friends. One of the many things that attract our Winter Texan friends to the area is to see all the wonderful birds that live here year around, and those that migrate thru the area. Our South Texas weather keeps the blooms blooming all year and that attracts the birds.

​So! Every month on our website we will introduce you to a different butterfly in the area, provide yarn suggestions and off you go! Make your favorite project like a hat, scarf, blanket or shawl for the Donation Chest every month. You are welcome to purchase your yarn here (that supports the mission, too!), or dive into your own stash and find something fun that works with the theme! All year we will celebrate those who participate with prizes and of course, HUGE thanks for being our BFF on this project and giving of your time to support and help so many. Well 2022 is off and running!

New Request:  

Years ago some friends were going to serve in Albania and we helped with some dolls. Well, last fall this wonderful group of ladies took sewing machines and began teaching. 

 

NOW they are in need of fabric for the return trip in March!  SO, if you would like to join in, please drop off your fabric pieces in our Albania Bound box by Feb 12th!

 Have You Heard?

The Lamb’s Loom is privileged to now be a designated collection point for Knitted Knockers! We are so blessed to be a part of this work. Last year brought many changes and challenges, but it also brought time. One of the things we were able to work on and add to the many ministries we serve is the Knitted Knocker Organization. For those who haven't heard about Knitted Knockers (and crochet!), this is a wonderful organization dedicated to supplying breast prosthetics to women who have undergone mastectomies. 

Knitted and crocheted “knockers” are made by using an approved yarn, for comfort and fit purposes, and then stuffed with polyfil. These provide an option to the heavy, and very hot prosthetics they may currently be using. A Knitted Knocker is lighter weight and made with breathable fibers, so heat rash and other complications can be lessened.

We have a special basket in our donation area just for Knockers! Every month, or so we have a “stuffing party” and several friends gather to sort, stuff and prepare these to go out to a local clinic. Once there, women are aided by their medical team to be fit for just the right Knocker. 

As a recognized collection point for knockers, please help us to spread the word if anyone would like to join in this. We already have two more local clinics who would like to receive Knockers. Let's do this!
