Knitted Knockers News

The Lamb’s Loom is privileged to be a designated collection point for Knitted Knockers! We are so blessed to add the Knitted Knocker Organization to the many ministries we serve. For those who haven't heard about Knitted Knockers, this is a wonderful organization dedicated to supplying breast prosthetics to women who have undergone mastectomies.

Knitted and crocheted “knockers” are made by using an approved yarn, for comfort and fit purposes, and then stuffed with polyfil. All the yarns that have been approved have been tested to ensure they are soft and nonabrasive to the skin, and made of a breathable fiber. These provide an option to the heavy, and very hot prosthetics they may currently be using. A Knitted Knocker is lighter weight and made with breathable fibers, so heat rash and other complications can be lessened. Knockers are given to each person at no cost to them, which serves as a gift of encouragement and helps those who may not be able to afford other prosthetic options.

At The Lamb’s Loom we carry four of the approved yarns. There is a special basket in our donation area just for donated Knockers to be given. Then, every month, or so we have a “stuffing party” and friends gather to sort, stuff and prepare these to go out to a local clinic. Once there, women are aided by their medical team to be fit for just the right Knocker.

Join us! You can make a Knocker, come to a stuffing party, donate polyfil and most definitely pray for all the recipients. We are currently blessed to serve two local clinics, a breast cancer support group and a clinic just south of San Antonio. As a recognized collection point for knockers, please help us to spread the word to anyone who would like to join in this outreach!

What an amazing year we have had!

Soooo many new peeps have taken classes, joined in the Sit-n-Knit fun, AND more beautiful handmade items are being added to the Donation Chest than ever!

Well, we just had to make more room for all the #LambsLoomFun going on everyday, so during our "summer vacation" we got to work! The Sit-n-Knit has been relocated and things are in the works to expand our outside Sit-n-Knit area, too!

Lots of birthday yarns and other surprises are wrapped and ready to celebrate with all around the place!

There will be drawings, great prizes provided by many of our vendors and fall class listings for y'all. If you have any class requests for our teachers, please drop us a note and we will see what we can do.

It has been an amazing 8 years and we are blessed by everyone who has joined in this ministry to send #loveineverystitch around the world. We thank the Lord for you all and are looking forward to seeing everyone and celebr8ing with you! 💝

Summer Stitches and Snippets...

🐑 Summer classes are going GREAT! Lots of Learn-to classes and several of our Next Step classes are ready for July! There are still a few spots available, so give us a call for more info!

Our heart-felt thanks to all our teachers, who volunteer their time and talents!

💖💖💖

🐑...and did you know?!?! Your teen can earn their school volunteer hours when volunteering here!
Give us a call, or fill in our volunteer app here, and let's see if that's a fit for you this summer, or during the year! We have a wondermous group of volunteers ready to show you a few stitches and get you started in your own #YarnFun as you serve others and #stitchitforward with us!

 🐑 Quick Donation Chest report!!!

We're halfway thru the year and already the Chest has received over 2600 items this year! Many are participating in our Make-Along this year (the July theme is out now!), making Ukrainian themed hats and always adding their own creative handmade items to the Chest.

Your continued generosity and creativity will be blessing soooo many...THANK YOU!!! 💖

🐑 Hard to believe it, but our birthday month is almost here! The Lamb's Loom will be 8 years old on August 26th, so as usual we're throwing a party the whole week!

Before all that, we will be taking a summer vacation (the shop will be closed) the first week of August. A little time for catch up, rest and birthday prep. Lots more yarn fun in store for us all in August!

Y'all keep having a yarn-filled summer and we'll see you soon!

The year is flying by and SUMMER is here already!!!

The Donation Chest continues to overflow and we are so very grateful!

Make-Along hats are a real treat to see coming in every month with their creative touches to match the butterfly theme. Ann is creating some very special hats with the BFF themes that are a real inspiration! Bookmark this page for  new themes as they are added every month!

We are also making hats and scarves with the Ukrainian flag colors. Those will be sent to Poland this fall to help with mission groups there.

Everyone is welcome to join in the fun and add your own wonderful ideas to your creations and #stitchitforward with us!

AND our Summer Stitches Classes are getting ready for your summer #YarnFun to begin!

That's right, we are adding a series of "Next Step" classes to our ongoing Learn-to series of looming, knitting and crochet. *

We are so excited to be adding to the class list for the summer. Our dear Shepherd Barbara will be offering one-on-one weaving workshops also!

There's something for everyone! So, give us a call and join our teaching teams this summer and add to your yarn fun!

(*see list of specific classes below)

And Denise took it a step further! 😉 She participated in our Anatomy of a Sock class last month and did it all! She took the class, chose yarn that matched the Make-Along theme for the month and then gave the socks to the Donation Chest!

We continue to be so very grateful to all of our instructors! 💗 They freely give of their time and talents to encourage and teach others. We are blessed!
